An addiction specialist from the The VA Center for Addiction Medicine in Richmond shares an eye-opening look at the not-so publicized addiction to benzodiazepines or benzos that are prescribed for anxiety. It is estimated 20% of all addiction cases include dependence or abuse of benzos like Xanax and Valium. Misusing these drugs can degenerate the brain and cause symptoms related to Alzheimer’s.
