(upbeat music) - Craft Lake City's DIY Fest is Utah's largest local centric celebration of art, music, science, and tech.
Featuring over 500 artisans, performers, foodies, and more.
Our guest today is Artisan and Programs Manager, Tiana Young.
Tiana, so good to see you.
- Yeah, you too.
Thank you for having us on the show today.
- Oh, well we love the DIY fest.
We love everything that you do.
And tell us how many years has it been going on now?
This is the 17th year.
- Started as a SLUG Magazine event.
Now it's its own thing, which is amazing.
- Yeah, and tell us a little bit about how it's grown and what you've added that's really important.
- Yeah, so in the first year, it was a one day event for SLUG Magazine, a local mag here in Utah.
And over the past 17 years, it's grown.
Craft Lake City has grown into its own organization and now it is three full days at the Utah State Fair Park.
- So it's at the Fair Park, which is a huge space and there's so many different things going on.
Just quickly run off what people can see there.
- Oh yeah, thank you.
We have a GFiber STEM building with interactive exhibits and Innovations, kids area, which is gonna a feature a pirate ship and is sponsored by the SLC Stars this year.
We have three full stages.
We have of course the Artisan Market featuring foodies, a bunch of commercial food trucks, what else?
So many other fun things.
- And everything is local.
And you have a kids row.
- Yeah, on Saturday, which is our youth popup market.
- That's so fun that you give kids an opportunity to sell their goods.
- It's so fun and inspiring.
All the youth entrepreneurs 18 and under will be there Saturday, 12-4.
- Wow.
And dogs allowed?
- Dogs are welcome with the purchase of a dog ticket of course.
We have a dog oasis, so treats, place to relax, play, that kind of stuff.
- Yeah, and you have a lot of non-profit tables.
There's so much people can interact with and learn about.
- Oh yeah.
- Yeah, it's amazing.
Well, thank you so much for coming to tell us.
Is there something new this year that you really want people to know about?
- We're really excited.
There's always something new with Craft Lake City, but we're really excited about the SLC Stars joining as the kids area and the SLC Synth Alliance stage.
- Wonderful.
Okay, well thank you so much.
Sounds like a big great party.
And if you would like to learn more about the DIY fest from Craft Lake City, it's August 8th through the 10th.
