(bright music) - The Torrey Chamber Music Festival creates intimate and inspiring musical experiences that foster community through engagement with chamber music.
And here to tell us about this year's festival and upcoming concerts is board member and festival chair, Ada Mae Crouse, hi, Ada Mae.
- Hi, Mary.
- What fun to have you here and to talk about this amazing music festival that you've put together in Torrey.
Perfect location, so talk about this season's concerts.
- Well, this season's concert, we're very excited about the theme.
It's called a Musical World tour.
So this year, you'll get to experience some of the great traditional classical western pieces of chamber music with string quartets and those kinds of instruments along with the tambura from India, African drums from Zimbabwe, accordion, so that we can have some tangos from Argentina, some Eastern European music.
And along with that, we have musicians that come to Torrey, Utah from all over, which is really exciting.
- I was gonna say, you've got some touch, not performers you bring in.
- We do, we do.
We do bring in world class chamber music musicians who are working professionally in orchestras and different sorts of ensembles throughout the country and from Europe as well.
- And I know you also do an educational component.
- Right, the educational component is a very important part of the Torrey Chamber Music Festival.
And I think as many of us know that music is very helpful in developing cognitive skills, in helping with social interactions and bonding and just developing the ability to express the inexpressible through music.
- Oh, I love that, that's perfect.
Well, thank you so much for what you're doing, putting it all together, and thanks for being here.
- Well, you're welcome.
I'm happy to be here.
- And if you'd like to know more about the Torrey Chamber Music Festival, it's June 5th through 11th.
It'll be at various locations around the beautiful Torrey.
Just go to torreychambermusic.com, that's torreychambermusic.com.
