(upbeat music) - Intermezzo Chamber Music Series is presenting its 2025 summer season, offering a high quality classical music experience.
And joining us today is Vedrana Subotic with more details about the concerts.
Hi, Vedrana.
Thanks for being here.
So you've actually already done the first one with a huge, like, group on stage, and tell me about what's coming up.
- Well, our ensembles will be a little bit more modest, not 15 like yesterday.
(Mary laughing) But, you know, we're doing a group of sextets, string sextets, and quartets and then we will close the season with late works by Brahms.
Some of the final works are the two clarinet sonatas, and we're happy to bring Tad Calcara for that.
And the clarinet trio as well, so all clarinet all the time for the last one.
(laughs) (Mary laughing) And, you know, I like to talk a little bit about music that we present before concerts and one of the stories that I have recently unearthed about the Brahms sextet, which is in July 14th, is that he was engaged to a woman whose name was Agathe, and he wrote her name into this composition.
So that's pretty romantic, right?
- I know, that's lovely.
Someone should do that for us.
(Mary laughing) - I agree.
- And I know you're doing works by other composers.
Puccini.
- Puccini.
- Who most people know for opera.
- Yes.
We're doing a string quartet called "Chrysanthemums" by Puccini, so if you didn't know that Puccini didn't only compose operas, you can hear this other kind of music that he wrote on Intermezzo.
And we have another work that is inspired by opera by Strauss.
His opera "Capriccio" is basically an opera about opera.
So we're performing a string sextet which opens the entire opera.
- Ah, wonderful.
Wonderful.
Thank you so much for being here again and for the beautiful music you bring us, thank you.
- Thank you.
- And if you'd like to know more about the Intermezzo Chamber Music Series, it's Mondays at 7:30 at the Vieve Gore Concert Hall on Westminster University campus.
