-Thank you.
-Welcome.
Mr.
Mayor, this is your initiative?
To what do you attribute the increase in violence in these recent years?
Recently the city or maybe the country, but I think it was the city is having más o menos (more or less), 900 kidnappings a year, is that accurate?
Oh, sí (yes).
How will you be able to tell if these improvements have worked?
When you talk to the officers here, who are monitoring the cameras, what do they tell you?
These officers, what are they doing right now?
You know, there's this expression, as a native of New York, "See something, say something."
How much do you want to involve the residents, the people of Santiago, in the process of securing your city?
Do you have an app, a smartphone app, where citizens can report activities that they suspect to be criminal activities, does that exist?
That app.
At what point do you hear from people here that there is a credible threat?
Mr.
Mayor, thank you for inviting me for brunch.
I hear this is one of your favorite restaurants?
But I hear it's not "avocado" here, "palta".
Salud (cheers)!
Gracias (thank you).
This is a critical question, manos (hands)?
Or no?
Fork and knife.
Okay.
Beautiful, beautiful.
And you said this is a dish from your childhood?
It's good.
You consider yourself, pragmatic centrist?
Do you think that the tenor of the political discourse here is acceptable?
Otra vez (again).
Ah, that's good.
Well, you're going to get me drunk.
I need to keep eating to keep pace with the wine.
Thank you.
What do you think is the mindset of your constituents in Santiago?
Is there still a memory of the events of 1973?
Yes.
Right.
Alcalde, Gracias (Mayor, thank you).
Thank you so much.
