(upbeat music) - The 29th Annual Survivors at the Summit event is a day long celebration for cancer survivors at Brighton Ski Resort.
Dana Levy and Kim Casey for Survivor Wellness are here with all the details about this year's event.
Hello, welcome both of you.
Such important work you do, thank you.
- Thank you, Mary, thanks for your support.
- And Dana, let's start with you.
So tell us about Survivors at the Summit and what people can expect.
- Survives at the Summit is a remarkable day in the mountains to honor and support cancer survivors.
All proceeds from the event support Survivor Wellness.
And Survivor Wellness is a nonprofit that offers free and reduced cost services and support for anyone impacted by a cancer diagnosis as well as their caregivers.
- All right, and I know in Utah the statistics are like one in four people will have a cancer diagnosis.
- That's right.
- Pretty high.
- It is, it is.
And you know, the diagnosis, treatment, and life beyond cancer is enough of a financial burden.
So as a nonprofit organization, it's our mission to provide services that don't increase that burden.
- Great, great, and I know it's such a hopeful affirmative event.
And Kim, you'll be speaking this year.
And tell us about what it's like to be at the event and be a survivor.
- It is a remarkable experience.
Like it is one, something that is unexplainable.
You have to go and experience it.
'Cause as you come up from the bottom of Brighton into Snake Creek Lodge, it is covered in these yellow flags that are just remarkable.
'Cause you realize as you start to summit that it represents a one person, multiple people that have had cancer.
They're still fighting, that are, you know, it's a remarkable experience, so.
- And every flag represents thousands.
So thank you both so much for what you do and thanks for being here.
- Absolutely, thank you so much, Mary.
- And if you'd like to know more about Survivors at the Summit, the 29th Annual Survivors at the Summit event will be July 27th from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Brighton Resort.
