Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorshipGood evening, folks, and welcome to tonight's special episode of The Wonders of Space, the only show on channel two that is about space on the account of Ken's visual impairment from staring at the solar eclipse.
I'm Doctor Lightning Bug, and as you can see, my bug eyes are still fully functional.
For those watching on the TV or listening to our radio broadcast this evening we will be witnessing the Geminids meteor shower, of course, named for its relationship to the Gemini constellation.
The shower is one of my favorites, says.
I'm sorry, what were we talking about?
Oh.
Yes.
Tonight's meteor shower is an annual.
Folks, we might have to take a quick five.
This is a one bug production, and.
I wish things were different.
I thought this was an astrology show.
Astronomy lesson.
Let's, let's get back to our scheduled program, folks.
I'm sorry for that little outburst.
The Geminid shower is named after the Gemini constellation represented by twins and also representative of the search for a partner.
I haven't been to church since the funeral.
I don't know if I believe in God anymore.
I don't know if he believes in me.
Maybe there's nothing when we die.
Maybe when it's over, we go back to dust.
It goes back to the stars.
I don't know if a lightning bug and a praying mantis can be in love, but is there another name?
Foe what I found.
Folks, I think this program is going to take a small break.
Isn't the space show's best start soon?
This is pretty amateur television, if you ask me.
If he's not going to talk about space put on so lightly.
You hear something?
You okay, doc?
No Well Dale called the a mess.
I know hindsight is 2020 and whatnot, but drinking and driving.
But I thought it was 2009.
Well, anyway.
Me and Dale were listening to your radio show and was wondering when the meteor shower was going to start.
It doesn't matter.
Well, I mean, Dale, we're looking forward to the show.
Nothing matters.
You know, I'm not even a real doctor.
I went to film school.
Anyway, last time fire doc I think we can all agree on that.
There's no handbook to life, and we all just try to find our way in a big, lonely world.
I don't think I'm explaining this very well.
Life is like space, vast and infinite, cruel and beautiful.
Sometimes, the good Lord, throws a little bug, like us a bone.
Sometimes we get nights like tonight.
