(upbeat music) - "Utah Presents" is celebrating 10 years of bringing global arts and culture to Utah, having showcased over 1900 artists from 37 countries.
Here to tell us more is content manager Sheri Jardine.
Hi.
- Hi, Laura.
- So good to see you again.
Welcome back.
- Good to be here.
Thank you.
- "Utah Presents" is such an amazing organization.
You're celebrating 10 years.
- Yes.
- Tell us a little bit about just the highlights of the last 10 years for you.
What has "Utah Presents" been able to offer the community?
- Yeah, as you mentioned, we really focus on bringing the cultural richness of the world to Utah and to Salt Lake City.
And so we've presented more than 1900 artists from 37 countries around the world, so that's a thing that we'll continue to do, bringing the best artists from around the world to Utah.
And we've reached nearly a million people over those 10 years.
So that includes performances, community engagement, K through 12, educational matinees.
But that's an exciting milestone.
- One thing that really amazes me about your organization is we've seen arts and culture get so expensive.
Fees are going up for artists and productions and that trickles down to the consumer and it makes it difficult for people to afford to do these things that they love.
Tell us what "Utah Presents" is doing.
- Yeah, we've had a commitment all along and will continue to be committed to making art accessible and affordable for everyone.
It's really, the arts need to be available for everyone.
Price shouldn't be a barrier.
And so, yeah, our costs have doubled over the last 10 years in terms of artist fees, but our average ticket price has only gone up $2.
And that is a commitment we carry into the future as we kind of mark this milestone to keep the community able to attend our events.
- Really great.
Really quick, tell us about Arturo.
- Arturo Sandoval is kicking off our "Jazz at Kingsbury Hall" series on September 4th.
Arturo is arguably the best trumpet player in the world right now, a huge range.
He will be a fun show for both hardcore jazz fans and for kind of people new to jazz, I think, will enjoy that show.
- Well, if you wanna hear more about Arturo and learn more about "Utah Presents" and what they have coming up, Jazz at Kingsbury Hall is September 4th, 7:30 p.m. Again, Kingsbury Hall.
