(upbeat music) - Westside CultureFest is a free two-day celebration of the creative spirit of Salt Lake County's Westside, held at the Mid-Valley Performing Arts Center.
And joining us today is Jenn Niedfeldt from Salt Lake County Arts and Culture.
Hi, Jen.
- Hi, Laura.
- So good to see you.
- It's so good to see you too.
- And I'm very excited that this is the third year of the festival.
- It is, yep.
Third year.
Bigger and better than ever.
We're so excited for it to be coming up.
- How have you seen this festival evolve over the years?
- Oh, well, when we first started the festival, we knew right from the get-go this was going to be our celebration of Westside artists and cultures and talent.
That first year, we ended up bringing in some incredible aerialists, we had amazing performances.
This year, though, into our third year, we have some great headlining experiences on both nights, Friday and Saturday.
Our aerialists are still there.
We have over 30 performances that are happening across four different stages.
We're also partnering with Spy Hop this year, coming in to bring a little mini film festival.
And Bad Dog Arts is joining us again with some art activities, some interactive experiences for all ages, which is gonna be amazing.
- The great thing about Salt Lake County is you're connected to so many cool organizations, like, Bad Dog and Spy Hop.
That's so fun.
I love that you're doing this two nights, so, if someone can't go on Friday, they can go on Saturday.
And just wanted to be clear, this is a free event.
- Yes.
Totally free to attend both nights from 5 to 10:00 PM.
There's something right from the very beginning when you arrive.
Of course, you come in, and we have over 25 artists that are gonna be there in our art market.
We have an outdoor stage where we have a bunch of different musicians.
They're all local, incredibly talented.
Friday night, we actually have an incredible musical headliner.
Her name is Theia.
She is an Indigenous Maori artist who does this incredible pop rock Indigenous kind of ethereal folk fusion.
Along with, we'll have a cool opener.
And then on Saturday night we'll have another amazing experience outside.
Lots of dance, music, theater.
All kinds of stuff.
- Well done.
That sounds so fun.
Well, thank you so much for coming in to tell our viewers about it, and I hope we get a lot of people out there for you.
- Thank you so much.
